BHS - Baseball
Baldwin vs. Upper St. Clair - April 8th
The Baldwin varsity baseball team traveled to Upper St. Clair on April 8 and easily defeated their section rival 13-3. The winning pitcher, Jesse Pesanka, also added a solo home run to the score. Leading the way in run production was sophomore Sean Gaughan with a grand slam home run. Baldwin’s record moved to 3-0-1 and they are currently in first place in their section.
Baldwin vs. Canon-McMillan - April 11th

Baldwin varsity baseball suffered their first loss of the season on April 11 against section rival Canon-McMillan. The final score was 5-4. Canon-Mac is currently ranked in third place in the WPIL

Baldwin Vasity vs. Mt. Lebanon - April 13th
The Baldwin Varsity baseball team soundly defeated previously unbeaten section leader Mt. Lebanon 9-3 on April 13. A key hit in the game was a fifth inning two-out double by senior Brian Cenci that drove in two runs. Sophomore Brandon Parker pitched four innings for the victory and was followed by three innings of solid relief from senior Wayne Betz. Baldwin’s record now stands at 3-1 and they are tied for first place in their section.
Baldwin Varsity vs. Bethel Park - April 15th
The Baldwin varsity baseball team dominated section rival Trinity with a 19-2 win on April 19. Brandon Parker pitched four innings for the win with senior John Clutter closing for the Highlander victory. Senior Brian Thompson led the offensive barrage with two doubles and a single and senior Mike McCarthy added a three run home run in the fifth inning. Baldwin is currently in first place in their section.
Baldwin Varsity vs. Upper St. Clair - April 20th
The Baldwin Varsity Baseball team continued their winning streak on April 20 by defeating Upper St. Clair with an easy 10-2 victory. Matt McCartney went seven innings for his second win of the season. This victory kept the Highlanders in first place in their section with a record of 6-1.
Baldwin Varsity vs. Mt. Lebanon
The Baldwin varsity baseball team improved their section record to 11 wins and 3 losses after beating Mt. Lebanon,11-1, on May 9 and beating Bethel Park on May 10. Brandon Parker picked up the win on Monday and Matt McCartney went the distance for the win on Tuesday. Brett Holland hit a home run against Bethel Park and Brian Thompson added a triple hit.
Baldwin Varsity vs. Bethel Park
The Baldwin varsity baseball team finished it regular season play with an easy 7-2 victory over Bethel Park. Steve Grosse and John Clutter split the pitching assignment with Clutter picking up the victory. Both senior Justin Dunn and Matt Blackburn stepped up to the plate and hit home runs. Derrick Obringer started in right field and contributed two singles.
Baldwin Varsity Makes the Playoffs
Baldwin will begin WPIAL playoff action next week since securing second place in Section 3 behind Canon-Mac.
BHS - Varsity Inline Hockey
Peters Township - May 10
The Baldwin Varsity Inline Hockey team defeated Peters Township in a 6 - 5 win on May 10. Goals were scored by Dave Kimmick, Ryan Nix, Chris Holzer, and a hat trick by Nick Hinsch.

BHS - Mens Lacrosse
Lacrosse Game Against Seneca Valley
Baldwin High school Men's Lacrosse team lost to Seneca Valley on Monday night, 17-4. The Baldwin goal scorers were Dave Walley, Zac Alderson, Ian Wild, and Jonathan Campbell.
North Allegheny - April 13th
The Baldwin Men's Lacrosse team traveled to North Allegheny for a non-division game on April 13. Baldwin lost to North Allegheny by an 11-3 score. The Baldwin goals were scored by Dave Walley, Zac Alderson, and Chad Evanek.
Central Catholic - April 15
Baldwin lacrosse team lost 18-9 against Central Catholic on April 15. Baldwin goal scorers were Dave Walley (2), Buzz Zuccher (4), Chad Evanek (2), and Mike Sunseri.
Hampton - April 19th
Baldwin Men's Lacrosse team hosted Hampton on April 19. The Baldwi varsity lost 9-8 in the last 10 seconds of the game. Baldwin goal scorers were Dave Walley (2), Ian Wild (3), Chad Evanek (2), and Buzz Zuccher.
Bethel Park - April 21
Baldwin lacrosse team lost 13-3 against Bethel Park on April 21. Baldwin goal scorers were Dave Walley, Eric Settelmaier, and Dan Karnbauer.
Butler - April 23
Baldwin lacrosse team won 20-3 against Butler on April 23. The goals were scored by Zac Alderson (5), Dave Walley, Mike Sunseri (2), Mike Dowd, Buzz Zuccher (4), Ian Wild (3), Chad Evanek, Tim McClelland, Jeff Hughes, Chad Taylor.
Fox Chapel on April 26
Baldwin won 12-11 against Fox Chapel on April 26. Baldwin goal scorers were Zac Alderson (5), Ian Wild, Chad Evanek (2), Craig Wetzel (2), Mike Sunseri, and Buzz Zuccher.
Allderdice - April 30
Baldwin Lacrosse team defeated Allderdice on April 30, 12-5. The Baldwin goal scorers were Buzz Zuccher (2), Zac Alderson (3), Ian Wild (2), Chad Evanek (4), and Mike Sunseri.
Canon-McMillan - May 6
The Baldwin High School Men's Lacrosse teams traveled to Canonsburg for games against Canon-McMillan on May 6. The junior varsity team won 7-5. The crucial goals were scored by Mike Marnik late in the game. The varsity team won 13-5. The big goal scorer was Zac Alderson.
North Hills - May 11
May 11 was Senior Recognition for the Baldwin Lacrosse team. The on-field results were not pleasant. The JV team lost to North Hills 10-6. The varsity team lost 12 -5. The varsity goal scorers were Chad Evanek (2), Buzz Zuccher, Ian Wild, and Dave Walley.
Quaker Valley - May 13
The Baldwin’s Men's Lacrosse team played May 13 in the last Division 2 game of the year. While the JV team was defeated 13-4, the varsity registered an impressive victory over Quaker Valley, 12-2. The Baldwin goal scorers were Buzz Zuccher (3), Zac Alderson (2), Ian Wild (2), Chad Evanek (3), Mike Sunseri, and Dave Walley. The game ended after 3 quarters due to lightning and the imminent thunderstorm.
BHS - Girls Lacrosse
Yough - April 28
The Baldwin Girls Lacrosse team were victorious 14 – 5 over Yough on April 28. Goals were scored by Megan Wichelmann with six goals, Sam Huebner with three goals, Carley Kimmel and Rachel Zotter with two goals each, and Nicci Iannachione with one goal.
BHS - Softball
Bethel Park - April 18th
The Baldwin High School softball team defeated Bethel Park 2 - 0. Lady Highlander pitcher, Beth Doring had an outstanding performance.
Mt. Lebanon - April 20th
The Baldwin Lady Highlanders softball team had an outstanding hitting and defensive performance against Mt. Lebanon on April 20. The girls earned an 11 – 1 victory in this match-up.
Upper St Clair on April 28
The Baldwin girl’s softball team defeated Upper St Clair on April 28. The Lady Highlanders won 5 – 0 in this “must win” game to stay on top of Section 4. Pitcher Beth Doring had another outstanding performance, with help from both offensive and defensive units.
BHS - Men's Varsity Tennis
West Mifflin Victory - April 5th
The Baldwin High School Men’s Varsity Tennis team earned a 4 – 1 victory against West Mifflin on April 5. Singles play was dominated by Lee Murdoch and Matt Vu. Doubles wins were scored by Chris Cantwell and Darren Buterbaugh, and by Rob Perrone and Rich Vargo.

April 12
On April 12, Baldwin High School junior Matt Vu, of the Men's Tennis team, advanced to the quarterfinals of WPIAL Section singles held at Mt. Lebanon High School.

BHS - Track
April 8th
On April 8, Baldwin High School ninth and tenth grade members of the Track and Field team competed at the Mt. Lebanon Invitational. The following individuals placed:
Dave Adley - First Place- 800 Meters Dave Adley - Second Place - 1600 Meterss
Chris Wolfe - Second Place - 100 and 200 Meters Nate Aaron - Second Place - 3200 Meters
Shannon King - Second Place - 100 Meters and Long Jump Heather Donovan - Second Place - 100 Meters
Heather Donovan, Nikki Vonderau, Brittany Ogden, Shannon King - First Place - 4 x 100 Meter Relay
April 10th
On April 10, Baldwin High School hosted the First Annual South Hills Classic Track and Field Meet. Placing for the Highlanders were:
Tim Phillips - First Place - 1600 Meters Bill Gwin - First Place - Long Jump
Ron Walters - First Place - Pole Vault Mike Meade - Third Place 800 Meters
Jordan Veney - First Place Shot Put and Discus Craig Hahn - First Place - High Jump
Chris Wolfe - Third Place - 400 Meters Dave Adley - Third Place 3200 Meters
Ray Valentine - Third Place - Javelin  
April 15th
The Baldwin Men's Track and Field team competed at the Latrobe Invitational on April 15. Team members placed in the following events:

Keith Huebner 2nd Place Shot Put Tim Phillips 3rd Place 800 Meter Run

April 16th
Baldwin High School senior Jordan Veney set meet records in the Shot Put and Discus at the Hempfield Invitational on April 16. She also broke the school record in the Discus.
