The
Baldwin High School 2005 Hall of Fame induction
ceremony took place on October 7 prior to the
start of the Homecoming football game. The
individual inductees were: Becky Galati - Volleyball,
Mandy Altomari - Volleyball, Mark Bridge -
Javelin, Mackenzie Gurcak - Discus, and Eric
White - Pole Vault. Team inductees were: the
2000 State and WPIAL Champions Gymnastic Team
and the 1999 WPIAL Champions Men's Cross Country
team. Coach and Service Award inductees were:
Paul Roth and Paul Black.

High School senior, Ray Toomey competed in the
100-meter butterfly event at a USA Swimming Junior
National meet held in August at the Woolet Aquatic
Center in Irvine, California. He recorded a time
of 55.58 in the 100-meter butterfly event to
finish second overall and advance to the Olympic
Trials by the narrowest of margins -- one-100th
of a second. There were approximately fifty competitors
in the 16-18 age division at the national meet.
The qualifying time for the Olympic Trials in
the 100-meter butterfly is 55.59.
He had qualified for the national
meet by finishing first in the 100-yard butterfly
event with a time of 49.75 at the PIAA Class AAA
finals this past school year. Ray owns five school
records and qualified for a berth in the U.S. Olympic
Trials in 2008 with a sensational individual performance
at the national meet. The 2008 Summer Olympics will
be held in Beijing, China.
