High School senior Ray Toomey finished with
a new school-record time of 49.24, capturing
first place in the boys' 100-yeard butterfly
event at the PIAA Class AAA finals held at
Bucknell University. His time beat his then-school
record time of 49.75 set at last year's state
meet.

- Gymnastics PA Classic Champions
The
Baldwin-Whitehall School District School Board
recognized the members of the Baldwin High
School Women's Gymnastic team on their recent
achievement of winning the Pennsylvania Classic
Championships. Team members include Katelynn
Cass, Samantha Englehart, Lindsey Nix, Chelsea
Peterson, Robin Rectenwald, Noelle Reinheiner,
Erica Schmidt, and Traci Walkowiak. The teams’ head
coach is Karen Krieger and assistant coach
is Jodi Falcione.

Shattered a WPIAL Record
Baldwin
High School senior Ray Toomey shattered a WPIAL
record at the WPIAL Class AAA swimming finals
held at the University of Pittsburgh Trees
Pool. Ray won the boys' 100 - yard butterfly
event with a time of 49.76. He also finished
first in the 100 - yard freestyle event with
a time of 46.94.

place in the boys' 100 - yard breaststroke
with a 1:01.38 time at the WPIAL championships.

National
Letter of Intent Sign-On Day
February
1, 2006 was the National Letter of Intent Signing
Day. Baldwin High School recognized the student-athletes
who, so far this year, have earned Division
I Scholarships. The following students signed
their Letters of Intent: Mike Mead (track and
field) for the University of Pittsburgh, Cart
Kelly (football) for Princeton University,
Kim Jarzynka (volleyball) for Eastern Michigan,
Jason Pinkston (football) for the University
of Pittsburgh, Justin Hargrove (football) for
the University of Pittsburgh. Missing from
the photo is Ray Toomey (swimming) for the
University of Notre Dame. Cumulatively, over
one million dollars in scholarships were awarded
to these outstanding student-athletes.

Baldwin
High School freshman, Alexis Kowatch was recognized
with a Student Athlete Certificate of Excellence
Award. This award was presented to her by Baldwin-Whitehall
School District Athletic Director, Mr. Lou
Angelo, for outstanding achievement in both
academics and athletics while participating
in three season sports (volleyball, track,
and basketball) during 2004 - 2005 as an eighth
grade student at Harrison Middle School.

WPIAL Quad East Head Coaches met at Norwin High
School on November 7th, 2005. Baldwin High School
football players Carthele Kelly (defensive back)
and Jason Pinkston (defensive line) were voted
for the WPIAL All Conference first team defense.
Shawn Fraser (running back) was voted to second
team defense and Kevin Cornell (linebacker) for
second team offense. Honorable mention was Justin
Schomotzer (quarterback).
