Bulb
Planting Project at Whitehall Elementary
Third
grade teacher, Mrs. Finet, with the help of her
student teacher, Ms. Saras, planned and organized
a grade level memorial project in remembrance
of September 11th. The third grade curriculum
was the driving force in accomplishing their
goal as various objectives in social studies,
reading, English, mathematics, and science were
incorporated into this grade level endeavor.
Nine
patriotic third grade classes, with their teachers,
cooperatively and proudly planted an 8 X 13 foot
early spring flower garden to spell U.S.A. in
red tulips, white crocuses, and blue hyacinths.
Each letter was planted with the three different
bulb types with the intent to create a red, white,
and blue striped effect. The learning experience
will continue as the entire school body anxiously
anticipate the final result.

Paynter
5th Grade Asset Science Project
After
learning about Isaac Newton's Three Laws
of Motion, the fifth grade class of Miss
April Collet at Paynter Elementary School
conducted the asset science unit on Motion
and Design. The students built their own
vehicles, using K'NEX. They set up a falling
weight system, using washers, string, and
paperclips. Then, they added a load to the
vehicle and had to determine if that would
speed up or slow down the vehicle. They were
able to use a stop watch to check for accuracy.
