Leadership Presents |
 |
| After school on November
3, 2003, Harrison Middle School hosted its third
annual Autumn Bowl. This Harrison Leadership project,
designed to promote school spirit, featured a Powder-Puff
Football Game with seventh grade girls competing
against eighth grade girls, as well as other entertainments.
|
|
| As part of the
fun, each grade level team, along with Harrison’s
Club PRIDE and Student Council, sponsored booths
selling food or conducting various games. Even
the Caring Foundation, a local community service
organization, had a booth. The concession stands
sold pizza, baked goods, hot chocolate, candy,
chips, pop, and hotdogs. Other booths offered
students an opportunity to take chances on a Chinese
auction, to participate in quarter bull’s
eye, or to play miniature golf. |
|
| This year’s Powder
Puff game was coined “The Tie Breaker”
because the seventh grade team won the first year
and the eighth grade team won last year. The winner
of this game would break the tie. With the seventh
and eighth grade boys’ “cheerleading
squads” as well as their fans cheering them
on, both teams put forth their best effort. However,
only one team could win. This year the eighth grade
girls, coached by Mr. Paulos and Mr. Patsy, won
over the seventh grade girls, coached by Mr. Saras
and Mr. Johnson, with a score of 22-19. Referees
Mr. Stokes, Mr. Dick, and Mr. Cherico officiated
to make sure the rules of fair play were followed.
All in all, Harrison students and staff agreed that
this year’s Autumn Bowl was a great success!
