Paynter - Bluebird Program |
|
|
The third grade class of Mrs. Joy Smith at Paynter
Elementary enjoyed a visit from Mr. Mark Conedera,
an Environmental Engineer with U.S. Steel and Mrs.
Virginia Fisher, an administrative assistant from
U.S. Steel's Environmental Affairs department. They
presented a program on bluebirds and the nest box
monitoring at the wetland site at South Taylor Environmental
Park. The presentation also featured displays, nest
boxes and information on bluebirds and other birds
native to the area. Afterwards, the students discussed
what they learned. |
|
Here's what John said:
" I learned that racoons can reach into birdhouses.
The lunch from U.S. Steel was VERY good." |
|
Amanda said: "
I like when they announced all the birds and animals
that we can see at South Taylor. I like the lunch,
too." |
|
Tom said, "
Our day was very good. I liked the birds the best." |
|
Lindsay said: "I
think it was real fun because we've never done anything
like that before. I LOVE science". |
