The Baldwin Highlander Marching Band performed
selections from their 2005 band show at Whitehall
Community Day. This year's show enters the "Wide
World of Sports," with the classic theme song
from "ABC's Wide World of Sports." Other
pieces included: Olympiada by Duquesne University's
Sam Hazo which embodies the spirit of competition
and sportsmanship of Olympics, The Place Where
Dreams Come True, and the great jazz feel tunes
of Take Me Out To The Ballgame and Sweet Georgia
Brown.

- First Day of School at Paynter
First-time and returning students arrived at
Paynter Elementary on August 22 for the first day
of school. After meeting with friends and teachers,
the students are ready for a year of learning.

- Books and Buddy
At Paynter Elementary, Ms. Reinhart's fifth grade
and Mrs. Singleton's second grade are participating
in a weekly Books and Buddy Reading activity. In
compliance with the PA Standards, their goal is
to improve reading fluency, speaking, listening,
and comprehension skills, while making new friends
at the same time.

- Cheerleaders
The Baldwin High School cheerleaders opened the
2005 football season at the non-conference football
game against Mt. Lebanon on August 27. Despite
the rain, the girls showed their Baldwin pride.
