Download Miss Murray’s Class’ Wump
(PowerPoint) Third grade music class is filled with the sounds of the recorder! During their time in music class, students learn to read and write music all while incorporating the recorder into their lessons. Students will play Mary Had a Little Lamb, Hot Cross Buns, and Ode to Joy. By using the recorder as an instructional tool, students become active participants in the music making process. Check back soon for some audio samples of our amazing students!!

Well, they are here!! The third graders have gotten their recorders and have begun learning their first song, Hot Cross Buns! The students are very excited and are hopefully practicing for you at home. Here are a few tips to help them along:
The left hand does the work!
Blow into your recorder with the same amount of air that you would use to blow on hot soup to prevent a loud, harsh sound.
If you are blowing properly but still having some leaky-squeakies, check to make sure that your fingers are covering the holes as you are playing. It is okay to pull the recorder away from your mouth and practice where your fingers should go while actually looking at your fingers.
Use your fingering chart to help you remember which fingers cover the holes for each note.

Have fun & work hard! You should practice at least 5 minutes everyday, or during the commercials during your favorite TV show!
