- Honors Jazz Band
Baldwin
High School sophomore Sarah Gratzmiller and
junior Aaron Gratzmiller were selected for
Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA)
District 1 Honors Jazz Band West. Sarah and
Aaron will perform with the jazz band in concert
on December 3 at North Hills High School.

High School seniors Amanda Kelly and Nick Barone,
sophomore Emily Walker, and junior Aaron Gratzmiller
were selected to participate in the Pennsylvania
Music Educators Senior High District One -
West Band Festival. The concert will be held
on January 20 at South Fayette High School.

- November Happygrams
Students from all grade levels at
Whitehall Elementary were recognized by their teachers
and principals at the November Happy Gram Recognition
ceremony. Each student was nominated because they
have demonstrated the core value of patience. In
this month’s lesson on patience, each student
became aware of the importance of developing patience
in their daily lives. Congratulations to all of the
nominees for making a valuable contribution to their
school community.

- Joan of Arc Medallion Recipients
Baldwin
High School seniors Heather Tomko and Katy
Wallander were honored at the St. Lucy's Auxiliary
Medallion Ball with the presentation of the
Joan of Arc Medallion by Bishop Donald Wuerl.
The Auxiliary, under the patronage of the Bishop
of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, honors
young ladies who have made valuable contributions
to their community through their unselfish
efforts in performing many hours of volunteer
sevice. The girls' escorts were Baldwin High
School seniors Jonathan Gruber and Jeff Tuskin.

- HMS Students of the Week
The Student of the Week
program at J. E. Harrison Middle School is run by
the Positive Communication Committee. Each week the
10 Core Teams, four in sixth grade, three in seventh
grade and three in eighth grade, plus the Physical
Education Team, the Music Team and the Encore Team
nominate students to be Students of the Week. These
students possess a positive character trait. The
traits are chosen from those studied during Homebase
activities. Each Student of the Week will have a
congratulatory letter sent home to their parents
or guardians, will have a candy bar and a certificate
delivered to their homebase, and will have their
name displayed in the library with the other chosen
students. Students can be chosen as Student of the
Week only once each school year.
