ClassroomPlus is a $9,000,000 statewide initiative that provides grants of up to $500 to parents of children who are struggling in reading and math. Children in kindergarten through ninth grade are eligible to participate in the program if they score at the basic level or below-basic level on the PSSA or in the bottom half of state-approved tests.

Helping Your Child Become a Reader
Other than helping their children to grow up healthy and happy, the most important thing that parents can do is to help them develop their reading skills. Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s Alcohol Education’s Website
Alcohol Education and abuse prevention are a crucial part of the PLCB ‘s mission. We work with other agencies and groups to reduce underage drinking and the misuse of alcohol beverages by legal consumers.
D.A.R.E.
“The New D.A.R.E. program is setting the gold standard for the future,” says Charlie Parsons, Executive Director of D.A.R.E. America, “Prevention inside the 21st century school house will need to be diverse, accountable, and mean more things to more people, particularly with the safety issues that have emerged since Columbine and terrorist alerts. That’s one reason why every New D.A.R.E. officer is also being trained as a certified School Resource Officer (SRO).”
It’s All About U

It’s All About U is a campaign designed to educate children, schools, families and the Allegheny County community about the importance of mental health and role stigma plays in preventing not only treatment but simple dialog. The campaign is being administered by the county’s Community Connections for Families program (CCF) and will pilot its work in five schools throughout Allegheny County.
