Family Hospice will be hosting its 2nd annual Celebrity Hoops for Hospice on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Baldwin High School located at 4653 Clairton Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
The event is a fundraiser for Family Hospice’s children’s bereavement programs and services including: bereavement coping sessions with certified therapists; grief totes containing a variety of developmentally appropriate items to support the grieving process such as educational materials, art and creative activities, plush toys, and photo frames; Remembrance Pillows created from articles of a loved one’s clothing to provide comfort and give the child the sensation of hugging a parent, grandparent, sibling, or other relative or friend; and, books for different developmental age ranges to assist parents/guardians with difficult conversations with children while supporting them through the grieving process. Children are often the forgotten grievers. A child’s grief is complex and unique. Chances are they've never experienced a loss before and are in unknown territory. Family Hospice helps them navigate their way to a safe and healthy space.
