On Friday, March 8, five students from Baldwin HIgh School attended Primestage Theater's production of the play And Then They Came For Me at the New Hazlett Theater. The play was a depiction of the true story of two young people who were friends with Anne Frank before she and her family were captured. Our students, Rachael Bonneau, Oluwatomisin (Tumi) Ojo, Samantha NIggel, Amelia Landis, and Lena Skipina, had been invited by the leaders of Primestage to serve as the panel in an audience discussion about the importance of Holocaust education and their own power to make a difference in the world. The adult audience of the play were able to speak with and question our students for approximately one hour after the play had ended. One member of the theater's Teen Advisory Board wrote that "I thought the panel discussion was very interactive and engaging for the audience. I have participated in panels like this before through school, and this school did a really good job. The students who continuously talked were able to convey their message and information very clearly to the audience. I sat towards the back of the audience and I saw some audience members taking notes and others who were nodding their heads with everything the students were saying. I think having youths talk about their personal experiences and/or education on the Holocaust really allowed for the audience to see how important art like this performance is as well as the need for continuous education on this topic. I personally found the panel very interesting and was glad that I could be there to listen."
