A new course at Baldwin High School provides students with foundational home and care maintenance skills. Baldwin High School technology education teacher Chris Tator has pioneered DIY 101 to ensure students are confident and competent to tackle basic repair tasks.
Tator told The Post-Gazette, “I've noticed that while students are great with computers and phones, they often struggle with basic, hands-on tasks that seemed straightforward when I was their age. As we focus more on technology and digital learning, practical skills are declining. (DIY 101 is) designed to bridge this gap by teaching students real, hands-on skills they'll need in everyday life.”
