On February 27th, something remarkable happened at Baldwin High School and Baldwin Middle School. Every single student was given a library card! This wonderful act was repeated just a few days later at our elementary schools on March 3rd, thanks to the efforts of Brigetta Del Re, BHS Library Media Specialist, and our local library partners, the Whitehall Public Library and the Baldwin Borough Public Library.

This initiative, dubbed "Library Cards for All," was designed to promote literacy and provide students with access to a vast array of educational resources. By giving every student a library card, the program ensures that everyone has an equal opportunity to learn and grow.

For many students, this may be the first time they have ever had a library card. This simple piece of plastic represents a world of knowledge and discovery, offering students the chance to explore new ideas, learn new skills, and pursue their passions.

The benefits of a library card are numerous. Students can borrow books, audiobooks, and other materials from the library's vast collection. They can also access a variety of digital resources, including ebooks, audiobooks, and online databases that provide information on everything from current events to medical research.

But the benefits of a library card go far beyond just access to resources. Our libraries are community centers, offering a safe and welcoming space for people of all ages to come together, learn, and socialize. By giving every student a library card, we are fostering a sense of community and promoting lifelong learning. Be sure to watch this video explaining the many benefits of the library cards for our students!

The "Library Cards for All" program is a testament to the power of collaboration. By working together, our schools and public libraries were able to make this initiative a reality. This kind of partnership between schools and libraries is essential in promoting literacy and providing students with the tools they need to succeed. We are excited to see the positive impact that this initiative will have on the lives of Baldwin students, both now and in the future.
