We are excited to announce the launch of a new collaboration between our 8th-grade English Learners (ELs) and our senior ELs at BHS! As part of this initiative, Dr. Niemi's seniors have crafted a special series of presentations, dubbed "BHS Voices of Experience," aimed at supporting Ms. Musselman's 8th-graders as they prepare to transition to high school. Drawing on their own experiences, our senior ELs have selected topics that they believe will resonate with the 8th-graders as they enter a new chapter of their academic journey.  This peer-led mentorship program fosters connections between students at different grade levels, offering the 8th-graders a unique opportunity to learn from those who have already navigated the challenges of high school life. The program will culminate in a field experience downtown to the historic Byham Theater, where students will attend a live performance of Ballet Folklórico de México, a renowned Mexican folkloric dance ensemble. This cultural experience will be followed by a fellowship luncheon, giving students the chance to further bond and reflect on the lessons they’ve learned from one another. We are thrilled to see this program take off, as it not only provides our 8th-grade ELs with valuable insights but also empowers our seniors to step into leadership roles, sharing their wisdom and helping to ease the high school transition for their peers. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting collaboration!
