The automation of garbage collection in Baldwin has brought efficiency and cost savings for residents, but poses a challenge for some older or disabled residents who are unable to bring their bins to the curb. This is a problem that neighbors can solve. Baldwin Township Manager Charla Pfeil reached out to Christopher Reilsono, a teacher at Baldwin High School and sponsor of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society for help.
Baldwin High School students were eager to help. BHS student Zach will be lending a hand taking cans out to the curb Thursday evening and then bring cans back after collection for one area resident. Pfeil is hopeful that the partnership can expand to include other tasks for residents with mobility issues, such as snow removal.
Reilsono shares, “Zach is a great kid and just one example of our Highlanders being leaders both in the classroom and throughout the community!”
