In 2010 math teacher Richard Ralston and his wife, Kelly, lost their daughter, Abbey, shortly after her birth. To honor Abbey's memory, the Ralstons hold an annual toy drive that provides Christmas presents for underprivileged children. The mission is to "distribute to needy families in Allegheny, Washington, and Westmoreland" counties, Ralston said. This year is the sixth year for the toy drive.
The Ralston's said, "We wanted to take a moment to express my sincere thanks for your support of Abbey's Toy Drive in 2018. Your contributions helped us to distribute 1,000 toys to 426 children in Southwestern Pennsylvania. This is 51 more children than last year. We could not have reached this goal without the support of the BHS staff."
