The role of the accountant is changing and with this we need to change the way we teach accounting in the classroom. With considerable technological advances, a new perspective is needed of how the accounting industry optimizes productivity. District staff are preparing students for this dynamic shift. In the accounting courses at BHS, staff is encouraging a deeper student involvement with a deeper understanding of higher-level thinking skills by incorporating QuickBooks, Inc., into the curriculum. Students are able to perform automated, task-oriented projects on a daily basis. Not only are they building upon accounting concepts, but they are acquiring real-world technological and critical thinking skills to bridge the transition from academia into the accounting/business world.
