Roundtable Discussion Explores Careers in Journalism

Students were invited to participate in a roundtable discussion on careers in journalism. The event, titled "The Real Scoop on Journalism Careers Today" was held on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017. Panelists were Stephanie Hacke, David Kaplan, Chris Mack, Julian Routh, and Tyler Vietmeier.

The discussion explored various topics, such as how does the media landscape continue to change, and what does this mean for students who are considering a career in newspaper or broadcast journalism? To what degree have cutbacks and a reliance on interns and freelancers throughout the industry made a career in these fields difficult? What do those who want to pursue this career path need to do to set themselves apart from their peers and develop a journalism career?

The event also featured a tour of the Purbalite newspaper and a live broadcast of morning announcements.
