Nick Cortazzo, a 2017 Baldwin graduate, is playing Link Larkin in the Broadway touring company of Hairspray.  After graduating from Baldwin Wallace with a degree in musical theater, Nick moved to NYC to begin his Broadway career. He has been very successful, but this hometown kid has not forgotten where he comes from or the people who have helped him along the way.  Nick performed his first ever musical at Harrison Middle School in sixth grade as the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland.  He continued on with Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast and Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof.  When he got to Baldwin High School he performed in Shrek (Pig), Big Fish (Edward Bloom),  and Zorro (Zorro) while also studying and performing at Pittsburgh Musical Theater (PMT).

This past summer Nick was featured in Pittsburgh CLO’s Kinky Boots and Sister Act.  But his most recent trip back to his hometown has been the biggest: starring in Hairspray.  While home Nick came to do a master class with some Baldwin Middle School students. He taught a dance from the show and had a question and answer session with the aspiring young performers.  Mrs. Hawk organized a trip to see Hairspray on January 6 for a group of 80 BWSD students, parents, and staff which included a talk back with members of the cast following the performance where Nick graciously thanked all his teachers that have helped him along the way.  We expect big things from this Baldwin alum! Baldwin proud!
