What’s New in Food Service This Year
-
BWSD Chef Coming This Fall - Our new chef will be making school meals exciting for students attending the high school with new recipes and dining concepts to entice students and staff members to dine with BWSD. Not only at BHS, our chef will be traveling to all of the school sites to introduce students to new recipes and exciting scratch-cooking delights. Catering events will be elevated to new levels in collaboration with the district and community events. Our new food service chef and the administration staff at BHS will be collaborating to create a new internship program for our BHS students in culinary training and food service management where our students can gain the knowledge of the food industry right here on the BWSD campus. Exciting things are coming to BWSD Food Service this school year.

Families who may qualify for free and reduced meals based on income or other qualifying factors will need to complete the meal benefits application at the SchoolCafe website for the upcoming school year. Meal applications must be dated on or after July 1, 2026, for the current school year.
If you feel you may qualify for meal benefits, please go to the SchoolCafe site and complete a meal application online.
If the family household receives government assistance and/or is eligible for direct certification by the government, then the family does not need to complete a meal application for the current school year.
Families that are eligible for direct certification will receive a letter from BWSD in August confirming that their child is eligible for free meals in the 2026-2027 school year. The letter will state that they do not need to apply for meal benefits. If any children in your household were missing from your eligibility notification
letter, contact Joyce Weber at 412.885.7500 x8081 or email at jweber@bwschools.net
immediately to add your missing child’s name to the benefits.
