Dear Harrison Middle School Families,
It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Interim Principal of Harrison Middle School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich educational tradition. I have been dedicated to the field of education, along with the Baldwin-Whitehall School District for the past 23 years. During that time, I have taught both reading and study skills, and for the past twelve years I have been an assistant principal at Harrison Middle School. This past year, I acted as interim principal for Ms. Wessel at McAnnulty Elementary School. During that time, I gained valuable experience and insights of leading a school. I am thrilled to be able to use my expertise to help Harrison Middle School continue to grow and provide a variety of educational and extra-curricular experiences for our students.
I am also excited to announce that Mrs. Denise Wells will complete the Harrison Middle School administrative team as the Assistant to the Principal for the remainder of the school year. She has been a member of the Harrison Middle School staff for well over 20 years. As a sixth grade teacher, she has collaborated with her colleagues to ensure that our students successfully transition to the middle school. Over her tenure, she has coached both volleyball and softball, was the student council advisor, and she is currently part of the PBIS team that promotes our “Rachel’s Challenge” initiative. As we move forward at Harrison Middle School, we will use Mrs. Wells’ experience, energy, and familiarity to enhance our school environment. Ms. Wells will primarily see students with last name that begin with A-L, and work closely with Ms. Niggel, the A-L guidance counselor. Ms. Alicia Johnson, Assistant Principal, will continue to see students whose last names begin with M-Z and closely work with Ms. Leadbitter, the M-Z guidance counselor.
I am fortunate to be part of a dedicated staff, and I look forward to collaborating with the Harrison Middle School faculty as we work to maintain and strengthen the strong relationships with families, students and community partners. As we look to complete the 2019-2020 school year, we will utilize the strength of these relationships to successfully complete the school year and help prepare for the multiple transitions that will occur in the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.
I look forward to working with you as a team to help Harrison Middle School students meet their goals and have a successful school year! Please feel free to contact me to discuss any concerns or questions you might have.
