Mathematics Department Kicks off the School Year with Engaging Activities

Students have been engaging in some very exciting activities throughout the math department.

Students have recently come back to school and what a splendid year it has already been. Students have been engaging in some very exciting activities throughout the math department. The sixth-grade students kicked off math this year by choosing five numbers that were meaningful to them and explaining why. Math 7 students completed a get-to-know-you activity exploring their life in numbers and a team building marshmallow challenge activity. Math 8 students are already on their way to graphing their names in pie charts! Finally, Geometry students completed the team building marshmallow challenge along with a dart throwing and corn hole activity to lead a discussion on precision and accuracy. The department has many activities planned for this year within classrooms, and are already looking forward to Pi Day in March!
