Music Teacher Stars in Mon River Arts Presentation of Gypsy

Congratulations to Harrison Middle School music teacher Kathy Hawk, who portrayed the lead role in the Mon River Arts presentation of Gypsy at Grand Theater in Elizabeth.

Regarded by many theater professionals as the greatest musical ever created, Gypsy is the ultimate tale of an ambitious stage mother fighting for her daughter's success, while secretly yearning for her own. Set all across America in the 1920's, when vaudeville was dying and burlesque was born, Arthur Laurents' landmark show explores the world of two-bit show business with brass, humor, heart, and sophistication.

Ms. Hawk brought vibrancy and nuance to her portrayal of Rose in this Sondheim favorite. Congrats on a wonderful show!
