It’s All about Perspective!

Recently, fifth-grade students at HEC worked collaboratively on a perspective writing assignment! Using the popular children's novel, No, David!, students in Mrs. Basher's class worked together to combine their creativity and understanding of perspective, a literary tool used in both fiction and nonfiction writing.  The students were given the task to draft a perspective writing piece based on the picture book written by David Shannon.  They were required to retell two events from the story from either the main character's perspective (David) or his mother's perspective.  The assignment had to be written in either a first-person point of view, third-person point of view, or third-person limited point of view. The students enjoyed the creative writing assignment, and felt a little nostalgic while rereading a book from their younger years!
