Our kindergarten through second-grade ESL classes embarked on a journey through a butterfly life cycle. Each student received a young caterpillar of their own to learn and grow with. We learned about metamorphosis and how caterpillars grow and change to evolve into butterflies. As we watched our caterpillars grow and change, we compared their life cycles to other living things, such as ducks, flowers, and frogs. Students were able to make connections between each of the different life cycles. After 28 short days of observation, the students were thrilled to finally release their butterflies!
