8th Grade Shakespeare Actors Prepare to Take the Stage!

The following HMS eighth-grade students competed in the Shakespeare Monologue and Scene Contest this week at the O'Reilly Theater in Pittsburgh:

Rylee Anderson, Olivia Dears, Gia Gehring, Gavin Jones, Rachel Johnson, Chloe Kozak, Bailey Manning, Chrisiah Miller & Charlee Thompson

We are so proud of them.   For weeks, our group of actors challenged themselves to memorize and perform scenes from Romeo and Juliet and Henry VIII.  They are truly "such stuff as dreams are made of."

Congratulations to Our Keystone Technology Innovator: Ms. Saut!
Tech1

We are proud to announce that Ms. Saut, our outstanding 6th grade social studies teacher, has been recognized as a Keystone Technology Innovator (KTI)—a prestigious statewide honor that celebrates model educators throughout Pennsylvania.

The Keystone Technology Innovators Program highlights teachers who lead the way in transforming learning through creative and meaningful uses of technology. These educators bring fresh ideas, best practices, and innovative approaches that ignite student curiosity and elevate classroom engagement.

Ms. Saut is a shining example of this spirit. In her 6th grade social studies classroom, technology becomes a powerful window into the ancient world—where students explore interactive maps, participate in virtual simulations, and collaborate on digital projects that make history come alive. Her commitment to instructional innovation not only strengthens student understanding but inspires them to think critically, communicate effectively, and explore globally.

We are grateful for Ms. Saut’s dedication, leadership, and passion for creating memorable learning experiences. Her recognition as a Keystone Technology Innovator is a well-deserved honor, and we are thrilled to celebrate this achievement with her.

Congratulations, Ms. Saut, and thank you for all you bring to our school community!

HMS Middle School Luau Dance Brings Big Fun!

Last Friday, our Middle School students celebrated an unforgettable evening at the annual HMS Luau Dance! The night was filled with energy, laughter, and plenty of activities that kept everyone smiling from start to finish.

Students showed off their best moves on the dance floor, enjoyed getting their portraits sketched by a caricature artist, and lined up for the always-popular temporary tattoos. Our face painting station added even more color to the night, while the basketball games in the gym offered a fun option for those looking to keep active.

A huge thank you goes out to all of our teacher and parent volunteers whose support made this event run smoothly. Special appreciation to Ms. Gregg, Ms. Stock, and the HMS Dance Committee for their hard work, creativity, and planning. Their dedication helped create an awesome night our students won’t soon forget!

Mahalo to everyone who helped make the Luau Dance a success!

Journey Banner

The Baldwin-Whitehall School District is at the forefront of transforming education to bring about a modern and forward-thinking learning experience for all students. We are actively engaged in diverse perspectives from our staff, students, and the broader community to design the Journey of a Highlander, a collective vision that articulates our shared aspirations for every student.

As part of our weekly update, we have placed a gear graphic(s) at the beginning of selected articles to highlight the connection to the five competencies that make up a Journey of a Highlander.
