Recently, Mrs. Bianchi's and Mrs.Chessman's Spanish I classes learned about the traditions and celebration of Dia de Los Muertos. Dia de Los Muertos is celebrated primarily on November 1st and 2nd in Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru, and the United States. It’s a time for remembering, celebrating, and connecting with loved ones who have died. It is filled with color, music, and laughter. Each Spanish I student chose someone to remember and honor for Dia de Los Muertos and then created an Ofrenda box or poster project. The classes learned how to make papel picado, calaveras, calacas, and flores de papel to decorate their projects. The students shared their projects with each other by conducting interviews in Spanish to learn about who their classmates honored in their Ofrenda.
