Celebrating 50 Days of Kindergarten Is The Bees Knees

On November 9th, kindergarten students at McAnnulty Elementary School went back to the decade of the 1950s for a 50th Day of School bash. We have been counting up to this day during our daily math calendar routines and students were excited to celebrate! Many arrived at school dressed as pink ladies and greasers ready to rock and roll. One of our favorite activities was counting to 50 using popular 50s dance moves such the twist, jitterbug, monkey, and hand jive. Some classes learned about life in the 50s and compared technologies from the past and present.

A trip to the 50s wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the local diner for an ice cold root beer float! Students sequenced the steps to making a root beer float before enjoying their own yummy treat. Using fine motor skills, students crafted a paper root beer float to remember this fun day! As we continue our counting journey, we look forward to the next 50 days of learning until the 100th day of Kindergarten!
