Fire Safety Day

This week, students at McAnnulty Elementary School had a special visit from our local fire department. Each class was given the opportunity to see a firetruck and listen to the firefighters share special information with them. The firefighters taught our students to stop, drop, cover your face, and roll. They also learned to throw a pillow out your window if you are on the top floor so firefighters can tell where you might be in an emergency. The firefighters also emphasized the importance of not hiding in an emergency so that a safe person can easily find you.

Such special memories were made, but our students learned a great deal of important information about fire safety, as well. The students continued their learning in the classroom, participating in many fun activities to review the important lessons learned.
