In partnership with Best Buddies Baldwin and the ACLD Tillotson School, the Baldwin-Whitehall School District is hosting the first annual Tastebuds Jr. event at R.A. Lutz Elementary School on May 16, 2024.

Tastebuds Jr. is a spinoff of the the annual Tastebuds event hosted by Best Buddies Pittsburgh, and our version will be the first of its kind in that it offers Baldwin High School students participating in the Best Buddies program an opportunity to further develop networking skills over delicious local food. Chefs are paired with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) and serve as sous-chefs for the evening. Students actively participate in the event as greeters, food servers, and by introducing local restaurant participants. It is a unique tasting event that features talented chefs from around the Greater Pittsburgh area and their signature dishes along with the power of friendship.  

Best Buddies Pittsburgh is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing one-to-one relationships between individuals with IDDs and their peers.  These relationships are established through community outings and social gatherings like Tastebuds Jr., and proceeds from this event will benefit the Baldwin/Tillotson Chapter of Best Buddies and Best Buddies Pittsburgh.
