Students Fly through a Good Time

After reading the story Old Black Fly by Jim Aylesworth, Mrs. Graff's Kindergarten class kept finding pesky flies all day. They used fly swatters to swat letters, put fly ABC cards in alphabetical order, and went through the alphabet identifying items that flies would like to land on. In math class, room 109 went on a picnic with some unwanted guests. By adding and taking away plastic flies from their sandwich, the students demonstrated addition and subtraction. Lastly, to spin off the vibrant illustrations in the book, the class painted their names with fly swatters.
