Cullen Doyle settled on a career path at a young age. He recalls, “I've been interested in dentistry since I was 6 years old. My dentist and orthodontists (who I now work with!) were great influences in my career choices. Because it's been my lifelong passion, I love all aspects of orthodontics, but nothing beats the feeling of the day that someone gets their braces or aligners off and they get to see their smile for the first time! Their joy brings me so much happiness!” After graduating Baldwin High School in 2011, Dr. Doyle earned his undergraduate and dental degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and attended Seton Hill University for his orthodontics residency and Master's Degree.
Dr. Doyle now practices orthodontics only a mile and a half from Baldwin High School at Good Orthodontics. Dr. Doyle explains, “First and foremost, I make beautiful smiles! I specialize in monitoring growth of children into adolescence and adulthood, and evaluating tooth positioning and bite relationships with the jaw, the gums, and the airway. I see patients as young as 6 or 7 and have even put braces on patients in their 80's! My day may include anything from taking off someone's braces, to examining growth and tooth eruption, to planning jaw surgeries and reducing TMJ pain.”
He finds it meaningful to be deeply connected to his community. He reflects, “My years at Baldwin were some of the best I've had! It makes me smile when I get to connect with patients who go to any of the Baldwin-Whitehall schools and talk about their experiences with BWSD while sharing my own.”
Dr. Doyle encourages students, “Build good habits now. No matter where your journey takes you after you leave BWSD — be that college, trade school, a job, the military, etc. — your habits will determine your success. Bad habits get harder to change as you get older and busier, so building the foundation now will help you succeed that much more as you get older. High school can be a challenging time, but staying open-minded to all the new friends, experiences, classes, and activities can allow you to find your footing. You never know what, or who, will play a big influence on you, so don't shut any doors before you try going through them!”
Though he now lives in Upper St. Clair with his wife Michelle, newborn daughter Caroline, and corgi Lilly, Dr. Doyle remains a Highlander through and through. He notes, “I still proudly rock my purple and white around the South Hills!”
