Jeanine DeBor Takes Museum Guests on a Ride through Trolley History

Baldwin High School alumna Jeanine DeBor’s work connects the region’s present to our rich past. DeBor serves as the Director of Annual Giving & Marketing at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum.

The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum showcases the history, science, technology, and art in the trolley system that was woven throughout Southwest Pennsylvania. The museum boasts a robust collection of 53 streetcars, including many that guests can climb aboard and ride.

Her grandfather’s passion for streetcars paved the way for her career. DeBor shares, “After practicing law for many years, I came to a crossroads in my career. I switched gears and began a career in development at a major university in Pittsburgh. My grandfather was a long-time volunteer at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum. He loved the place and the people. He knew how to restore and maintain streetcars as well as install overhead lines, and his contributions were invaluable. When the opportunity arose to join PTM, I knew it was the perfect fit and a wonderful way to honor his legacy as well as the other amazing volunteers here.”

In her work, she still draws on the skills she learned at Baldwin High School. “I credit [Baldwin High School teacher] Pamela Livingston with teaching me how to write, or at least seeing the potential and drawing it out. Writing has been such an important part of all aspects of my career, and Ms. Livingston taught me how to organize my thoughts and express them clearly. I am immensely grateful to her,” says DeBor. She encourages current students, “Your high school years are only the beginning and fly by so quickly. Take advantage of the opportunities that are presented to you. You never know where they will take you.”
