Each month, the district produces a monthly newsletter called Highlander Highlights in order to celebrate the great happenings that occur within our buildings and school community. All district parents who have their email address updated in the Skyward student information system and are registered to receive Skylert messages will automatically receive the monthly electronic newsletter.

District Appoints Deputy Superintendents

Baldwin High School student James Westling and his brother Nate are outstanding examples of the power of a simple act of kindness. James and Nate were recently driving into the school parking lot when they observed a senior citizen miss their footing, stumble, and fall while accessing the District golf carts used to transport visitors to BHS Stadium from the parking lot. James immediately responded. He stopped his car and the brothers offered care, concern, and assistance to ensure the safety of this individual. Read More

Being Grateful

Bus driver Val Hess makes the holiday season exciting for students on her route. Hess explains, “Bus 92 has a North Pole visitor. Her name is Crystal and she enjoys moving around the bus, hiding from the kids!” The students love searching for and spotting Crystal each day and even tell her “hello” and “goodbye” when boarding and disembarking the bus. Sarah Kanar, BHS class of 2015, has been surrounded with whimsy her whole life. Her mother, Rebecca Kanar, started ABC Balloon Twisting when Sarah was still a baby. Balloons were a constant in their home. Kanar recalls, "My mom always had balloons around and eventually showed me how to twist them too at a young age."

Class of 1971 Funds BWEF Scholarship

The Baldwin High School Class of 1971 presented BWEF with a $1,000 donation as part of their 50th reunion weekend in September. BWEF will award this gift as a scholarship, presented by the Class of 1971, to a graduating senior of Baldwin High School in June 2022.

That was on my mind earlier this week when I found myself very fortunate to be at Heinz Field for the Monday Night Football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Bears. Sure, a Steelers win is always worth celebrating. But the real reason I was so proud to be in attendance that night was because of something very special.

2018 Baldwin High School alumnus Tony Mendez has long loved numbers. Mendez recalls, "I have always excelled in math and had an interest in finding a deeper understanding in the numbers, leading me to statistics. I enjoy being able to analyze numbers in order to draw deeper conclusions that may not be obvious on the surface. Baldwin helped me gain more interest through all the AP classes offered, specifically economics and statistics."
