BHS Club Makes Halloween Sweeter by Volunteering to Assemble Treat Bags

This October members of the BHS club Global Minds came together to assemble 200 goodie bags for Baldwin Township's "reverse Halloween parade," held Saturday, October 23rd. Global Minds is a for-youth by-youth organization that inspires students to form social bonds, intercultural friendships, and to consider global issues through youth led extracurricular activities. A program of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, Global Minds currently operates in 23 schools. The Baldwin High School chapter is chaired by Sofia Khatiwada and facilitated by BHS Teacher Rebecca Mackin. The club strives to partner with other organizations within the community to identify and help populations in need. This summer, the students organized to clean up public play areas in the Prospect Park apartment complex.

The Halloween parade was hosted by the township and is for residents of Baldwin. Each child received a goodie bag with candy, fruit snacks, and coloring books inside! The event was made possible with support from Mike Miller Garage, Thomas McDermott – GTN Law, and Christi Fredrick – Coldwell Banker.
