On Monday, October 2, the BWSD Parents as Allies team marked a significant milestone by hosting their very first parent engagement event, "Unite and Ignite." This exciting occasion drew a diverse and enthusiastic audience, showcasing the commitment of the District to foster stronger connections among families, educators, administrators, and students.
Guests at the event were treated to a variety of attractions, including live music, a delicious Bull River taco bar, childcare services, s'mores by multiple fire pits, and the chance to win great prizes. The event was not only a relaxing evening out, but also a testament to the collaborative efforts of the BWSD Parents as Allies team.
Over the past several months, the team, composed of eight members representing parents, teachers, board members, the community, and administration, has been working hand-in-hand with Kidsburgh's Parents as Allies program. Together, they have been diligently exploring innovative strategies to promote open communication and networking within the District's diverse family ecosystem.
The primary objective of the BWSD Parents as Allies team is to create opportunities for culturally responsive teamwork. This teamwork is aimed at fostering better collaboration between families, educators, administrators, and students, all in the pursuit of supporting student learning and overall well-being.
As the BWSD Parents as Allies team looks ahead to future engagement events, they extend a warm invitation to the parents and community to join them in breaking down barriers and working harmoniously for the benefit of the children in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. By participating in these events, the extended learning community can play an active role in shaping the future of education and family involvement in the District.
Stay tuned for more opportunities to engage and make a positive impact in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. "Unite and Ignite" was just the beginning of an exciting journey towards a brighter future for our children.
