Holiday Cookie Extravaganza Is a Sweet Tradition

The Baldwin-Whitehall School District hosted its sixth-annual Holiday Cookie Extravaganza for Senior Citizens on Friday, December 15th. This wonderful event brings together members of the community across generations for some delicious, holiday fun! Some of the cookies were baked by Baldwin High School students in Beth Fochtman’s Family Consumer Science class at Baldwin High School and Chef Stacey Caudill’s students at Steel Center. Many more cookies were made by teachers, district administration, and support professionals.

Each year seniors love visiting the school where they are able to meet students, enjoy holiday music performances, tour the school, and, of course, take home fresh, home-baked holiday cookies. This was a wonderful chance for members of the community who don’t always cross paths to come together and celebrate the season of giving.

"What a special treat for the seniors living in the district. Unless, you have a grandchild attending one of the schools, you don’t often see the remarkable improvements developed over the years since your now middle-aged children attended. Obviously, the music program is exceptional as exhibited by the orchestra, band, and choral performances. Greatly enjoyed the performances this morning. Bravo! The golf cart transportation to and from the parking lot was especially thoughtful. The ornaments, cards, cookies, etc. are all greatly appreciated. Once again, please accept our most gracious thanks for a lovely morning,” shared Betty Karleski who attended the event.
