Summer Time Fun at the BWSD Summer Camp!

The District, in partnership with Baldwin Borough and SHIM, held a Field Trip Summer Camp for students in grades K–8. It proved to be a memorable and fun experience for all!

The camp provided 4, week-long sessions of field trips. Students attended field trips to Triple B Farms where they went on tractor rides, learned about the importance of bees, and how our bodies can work as an incubator for seedlings! Students explored the inner workings of PNC Park and learned all there is to know about baseball and our beloved Pittsburgh Pirates! The Carnegie Science Center offered the students the opportunity to attend the “Wheel of Science” show and “Stars over Pittsburgh” in the Planetarium! At Phipps Conservatory, students walked through an “Under the Sea” exhibit and were captivated in the butterfly garden. We even planted our own flowers when we returned back from the trip! At the Pittsburgh Zoo, students visited as many animals as possible and enjoyed the sights at the Aquarium!

It was a whirlwind of a Summer Camp with over 450 students in attendance! This camp provided our students with incredible learning experiences, so much fun & summer memories they will always remember!

We would like to give a special thank you to our friends at SHIM and Baldwin Borough for providing this opportunity for our students, the BWSD Administration department, along with our amazing teaching staff, food service employees, custodial staff, ABC Transit, and McAnnulty Elementary School.
