Dare to Lead: District Leadership Retreat

The administration and board of the Baldwin-Whitehall School District came together to participate in a retreat, titled "Transforming Learning: Dare to Lead." Taking part in the retreat allowed the leadership of the District to reflect on the District's identity and mission and plan for the future. Held on October 9th at South Hills Country Club, the event was hosted by HHSDR and Carrie On Communication. Dr. Bille Rondinelli, representing The Grable Foundation, facilitated the retreat. Parents, alumni, and teachers participated in a panel discussion that addressed the District's mission, innovation, and achievements. It highlighted the distinct, diverse, and proud community that makes up the culture of the District and it cast a bold vision, daring to imagine what's ahead for BWSD. Panelists included:

  • Keith Harrison, BHS teacher
  • Tamara Rellick, PES teacher
  • Julian Routh, 2012 alumnus
  • Maddi Sgattoni, 2017 alumnus
  • Dana Winowich, parent

Graphic illustrator Emily Simons captured the evening's discussions in evolving, real-time conversation art. Dr. Randal Lutz, Superintendent of the Baldwin-Whitehall School District, reflected on the event, "It was invigorating and instructive to take time away from our regular schedules to reflect and to plan. Understanding our solid footing in the past, allows us to consider future frontiers for the weeks, months, and years ahead."
