The Baldwin-Whitehall School District Transportation Department removed the seats from a 1984 convention-bus that's typically used for safety training and stuffed it with 41 brand-new bicycles for the US Marines' Toys for Tots Foundation. Forty-one new bikes and 41 helmets were funded entirely by the employees of the School District's Transportation Department. The initiative was imagined and is organized by a school-bus cleaner, Diane Plish, and supported by Transportation Manager David Tompkins.
The toys were received from the bike-stuffed, holiday-decorated bus by Marine Luisa Peralta Martinez on December 5th. The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U. S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas.
