Thank you for visiting our Whitehall Elementary School website. We value your engagement in our school community as a parent, family member, or resident of the Baldwin-Whitehall community.
About Me:
I am a Western Pennsylvania native. I grew up in Sharon, PA and proudly attended Sharon City School District. I have lived in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District since 2016, and I am honored to serve the school district where I reside. Throughout my own lifelong learning journey, I have attended Westminster College, the University of Scranton, and currently attend Duquesne University. I hold a Bachelor's of Arts in Elementary Education, a Master's of Science in Educational Administration, and I am currently a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership. I have worked in school administration since 2012 and in the field of education since 2007. Although I will always be a supporter of formal education, I strongly believe that the most valuable learning I have attained over the course of my personal and professional life has been attained through lived experiences. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, reading, cooking, and watching old movies.
My Leadership Values:
-
Community – Relationships are everything. Children thrive in a network of caring adults who are acting in their best interest academically, socially, and emotionally. I value home-school-community partnerships in service of students and will work to build those relationships.
-
Communication – I value kind, respectful, and earnest communication. I look forward to two-way communication that allows everyone to feel heard and understood.
-
Respect – Respect is critical to productive partnerships. We all deserve to be treated with respect and dignity above all. No one is perfect. We all make mistakes. The Whitehall Elementary family will celebrate everyone for their own unique differences and we will encourage one another to always do our best.
-
Rigor – Let me be clear – rigor doesn’t mean a focus on test scores. Rigor means “leveling up”. Each day we will work to raise the bar of excellence in the way we treat ourselves, each other, and in how we approach learning.
-
Perseverance – It goes hand-in-hand with rigor. Life is hard. Perseverance is a commitment to self. I value the importance of feeling “all the feels”. If you can identify how you’re feeling in a given moment, you can confront it. That is perseverance. We won’t always feel good when we’re challenged in life or academically, but we can raise children who confront their emotions and make responsible decisions in the face of challenges.
My “Asks” from our WES Community:
-
I ask for everyone in our community to practice kindness and respect towards others' and ourselves
-
I ask for teamwork through collaboration and open communication between home and school
-
I ask that we assume positive intent, seek to understand each other, and keep student success in the forefront of all the work that we do
I value the role and responsibilities that have been bestowed upon me as the Principal at Whitehall Elementary. I am committed to serving our students, families, and staff in the district that I call "home".
Sincerely,
Rebecca B. Gill, Principal
