Ms. Anderson’s first-grade allstars had a FABULOUS time exploring their CKLA (Core Knowledge and Language Arts) Knowledge Fables & Stories Unit! The students participated in discovery stations that helped them explore the similarities and differences between fables and folktales. These Language Arts topics allowed them to recognize the important elements of a story while increasing their robust vocabulary and reading-comprehension skills.

We culminated our learning by reading the folktale Johnny Appleseed and engaging in various math, reading, and science  apple-themed stations. The students were excited to utilize their apples in STEAM stations that allowed them to investigate and collaborate while making valuable learning connections!
