First graders are actively engaged with their new science curriculum this year. In room 149, students had to explain phenomena about the sun and the moon and solve a problem related to kids going to school in the dark. The students then had to explain the phenomenon of a girl who was able to see her toys outside after dinner on some days but not on other days. The students also had to explain the phenomenon of the moon appearing as different shapes and in different parts of the sky.
The students had science challenges that they had to solve that allowed them to use their problem-solving skills. This interactive approach not only helped them make predictions based on their findings, but also encouraged teamwork and communication as they shared their ideas and learned from one another. This module was a great way to start the year off with a new way of thinking for the students and they cannot wait to learn more upcoming modules this year in science!
