The children in Ms. McPaul’s first-grade class prepared for the holidays by filling stockings for the residents of Overlook Green. These little “elves” filled 50 stockings with candy, tissue packs, a toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, other toiletries, a homemade ornament, and a Christmas card. The children then delivered the stockings to the residents the evening of December 20th. In addition to the stockings, the residents also received a beautiful poinsettia to add some holiday cheer to their room. Holiday songs, such as “Jingle Bells,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, and “Must Be Santa” were sung by all. The evening ended with everyone enjoying a smiley holiday cookie.
A special thanks to the following:
- All the parents who contributed items for the stockings,
- Dr. Sartorio (dentist, Bethel Park), who donated 50 toothbrushes/toothpaste,
- Dr. Stokar (dermatologist, West Mifflin), who donated lotions, chapstick, sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner
- Eat ‘n Park (Baldwin), who donated two dozen smiley cookies
- Home Depot (West Mifflin), who donated 50 poinsettias
We are looking forward to our next visit!
