The March to one Million Minutes

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! In conjunction with Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America Week, the students at Whitehall Elementary School participated in an entire week of reading and fun! Themed days included wearing crazy socks, sporting a wacky, mixed-up outfit, and a red, white, and black day just to name a few. To kick off the event, on Thursday, February 28th, students had special visitors from Pitt! Members from the football team, cheerleaders, and dance team came to read to the students. ROC, the panther, even popped into each and every classroom for a visit! Members from the District's very own Highlander football team also joined in the fun! Continuing the tradition of the last several years, several community members and District administrators were invited to come into classrooms to be guest readers. Each guest read their favorite book or a Dr. Seuss book! The entire WES staff is grateful to all of the visitors who to helped promote a love of reading! Overall, it was a great way to celebrate reading and to reach a school-wide goal of 1,000,000 minutes spent with a book!
