On December 12th, students in first and third grade at Paynter Elementary made fleece blankets for the Wrapped in Love charity in lieu of a Christmas gift exchange. As an act of learning that giving can be as special as receiving, these students donated $5 towards the purchase of fleece blanket material instead of doing a holiday grab-bag gift exchange. Through these donations, the students had enough fleece to make close to 90 two-sided blankets. The charity provides blankets to individuals undergoing cancer treatment. This was the second year for this service project.
District Assistant Superintendent Denise Sedlacek shared, "Empathy, compassion, and giving are not something we measure on PSSA's or any test but is so very important in the lives of our students and our world."
